With the success of “Say Yes to the Dress” now well behind them (the sixth season returns in February), TLC is banking on a brand new six-part series — are you ready? — “Say Yes to the Dress: Big Bliss.” Premiering on October 1 at 9 pm, this offshoot focuses on the emotional journeys of plus-size brides shopping at Kleinfeld for their dream wedding dresses. Are we going to get hooked on this series, too?

Keys Stolen at Long Island Wedding Reception IN THE NEWS

According to news reports, about 55 sets of car keys were stolen on Saturday night during a wedding reception at the Woodbury Country Club, leaving many guests stranded and no doubt, pretty angry. According to the general manager of the Woodbury Country Club, while his employees were distracted as they were moving around traffic cones, someone pulled up in a vehicle and took off with the whole box of keys. Police are investigating.

Now I haven’t heard of this sort of crime happening frequently, but it sure is a wake up call for reception venues. For couples getting married on Long Island, this is just one more item to add to your to-do list: When booking your wedding reception, do ask about not only valet parking services, but also about security.

Long Island Groom “Today” Show Wedding Finalist IN THE NEWS

For the 11th year in a row, the “Today” show is holding a couples contest for an all-expenses paid wedding, to be aired live on October 6th. It’s down now to four engaged couples for viewers to vote on. Now we don’t want to sway anyone because all four seem like lovely couples, all with an interesting story. But keep in mind that Greg Merante is a Long Islander, from Hicksville (he’s engaged to Lauren Ulatowski, who hails from Niagra Falls). Here are all of their “how we met” stories.

In June, Keith Hernandez was seen dining at Nick & Toni’s in the Hamptons. In July, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were spotted eating at Bostwick’s Chowder House. Earlier this month Jon Bon Jovi ate at Serafina. How do I know this? I’m reading www.LongIslandRestaurantNews.com, Long Island’s new website chock full of not only celebrity sightings, but tons of news and information surrounding our restaurant scene — including a section on dining deals, which is very useful for brides-to-be planning weddings and all of the celebrations that surround the event. Ever hear of Jonathan Mariano? I confess, I have not. But according to The New York Post, he’s the next BWP (BIG Wedding Planner). The Manhattan florist/planner creates over-the-top event decor — “The Moroccan-themed wedding was held at Oheka Castle on Long Island. It featured a leopard-print chuppah, waiters in purple and fezzes, and fringed shawls draped over brocade tablecloths,” according to the Post. Jonathan, which is the only name he goes by, is so busy he often turns down work. We’ll keep an eye out and report more on him in the future. At the moment, he doesn’t even have business website; but it appears that he does have a very good publicist who got the Post to run this feature on him…

Chelsea Clinton Tied the Knot IN THE NEWS

And the bride wore Wang. Vera Wang, that is. According to CNN, the strapless gown included a swirling silk organza ball skirt and train, and was accented by an embellished belt. They didn’t get married on Long Island, but in Rhinebeck, at the 50-acre estate Astor Courts, as speculated. They had an interfaith ceremony — he’s Jewish and she’s Methodist. Most impressively, they managed to keep this a private, sacred event. We congratulate Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky.
