Ask Jody: Bachelorette Party in Eastern Long Island

Elizabeth, Long Island

Q:  Hi, I am planning my cousin’s bachelorette weekend for this coming May or June 2014.  She was thinking we could rent a house and then go to a vineyard. I was wondering if you could give me any good suggestions of places to stay and go.  Maybe we can do a vineyard during the day but still go out somewhere at night.  Any suggestions you have would be appreciated! I have never been to the Hamptons before so I am completely clueless!  Thanks!

A:  Thanks for writing! You will want to book accommodations for your cousin’s bachelorette party asap! The month of May kicks off wedding season, as well as the summer season on both the North and South forks of Long Island.  But instead of the pricey Hamptons, we think Greenport is your best bet.   There is easy access to the North Fork vineyards from there, as well as a lively nightlife and great restaurants!  I would suggest looking into the Cliff Side Condos for accommodations.  Each condo sleeps six, and has a kitchenette and balcony overlooking the Long Island Sound.  There is also an outdoor pool on premises. This waterfront resort is about a mile from Greenport. You can contact a local limo company to arrange for a vineyard tour during the day, and then head to Claudio’s Clam Bar for some drinks and dancing!  Another option:  East Wind Inn and Spa.  They can help you make all of the winery arrangements and even set up shopping at the nearby Tanger Outlets.   Unwind afterwards with spa treatments…
