Back in New York: Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding! FUN STUFF

We’re super excited to report that the hilarious Off-Broadway interactive show — really the very first of its kind, which spawned a whole new type of theatrical experience some 25 years ago — is scheduled to come to New York in 2014.   (And we’re helping spread the word!)

So grab your fiance and your bridal party for your own pre-wedding blast!

Known as the “Granddaddy of Interactive Theater,” the show takes center stage starting March 5, 2014 with a newly updated production in the heart of Times Square.   Perfect for couples, bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers or just a fun night out on the town, audience members are the wedding guests and as such, you’re encouraged to optimize the experience by taking on the impromptu roles of Tony and Tina’s family and friends.

The two-part show begins with the ceremony at the old “Fame” high school –  the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School auditorium (120 W. 46th St.), followed by a short walk by the  ENTIRE bridal party and you, the audience, through Times Square.  You’ll end up at the reception room, at Food Network star Guy Fieri’s Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar (220 W. 44th St.).  There, guests and cast get the party started, complete with an Italian-style buffet dinner, cocktails, dancing to DJ Donnie Dolce, NYC’s #1 wedding singer/DJ and surprise VIP guests (could Martha Stewart show up?).

And brides, listen to this:  Unlike Broadway shows, cell phone usage is highly encouraged during the proceedings, so audience members and the cast can utilize social media to real-time tweet each other, share photos and videos.   And you may want to mention this to your friends:
Surprise marriage proposals can be arranged in advance!

Get your tickets now — Performances begin Wednesday, March 5th and run Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7 PM, with matinees Saturday at 2pm & Sunday at 3 PM; $125 for “Friends” seating, with Premium/Family Seating available at $175 for all performances. Not familiar with this fun show?  The characters of Tony and Tina were conceived at Hofstra University by drama students Mark Nassar and Nancy Cassaro (1977-1981).  Between 1985 and 1987, several interactive wedding performances were staged, in which the audience played the guests. After People Magazine declared the show “A hit,” theatrical producer Joe Corcoran secured the worldwide rights to present the show in New York and elsewhere and in February 1988 the first commercial production was mounted in Greenwich Village, where the show became a fixture.
