Ask Jody: Small Wedding in East End Long Island

Jessica, Holbrook

Q:  My fiance and I are pretty simple and wish to not have a big flashy wedding, and since we just inherited an old broken down house we need all the money we can get. Is there any romantic restaurant out on the east end that has a private room for a dinner reception? About 50 people or so?

A:  Before you set your sights on a restaurant, consider The Hedges Inn, a hidden gem in East Hampton.  This intimate inn has an indoor reception room, tented patio and two beautifully manicured lawns as options for ceremony sites. One of the lawn areas has a beautiful rustic barn that can be the back drop for your ceremony. The event coordinator and staff are lovely to work with.  There is a site fee and you need to bring in a caterer.  It is located near shopping, beaches, restaurants, and golf courses, so your guests can truly enjoy the beauty of the Hamptons.   As for an actual restaurant, look into East Hampton Point, which caters to special events. The restaurant overlooks a beautiful Marina. There are also many restaurants in Montauk, including Navy Beach and Surf Lodge.  Wishing you a beautiful wedding day!
