Pre-Wedding Getaway to Hotel Fauchere DID YOU KNOW…?

Those of you who visit here often know that I just love, love, love discovering cool hotel accommodations for you.   So check out what I found on a recent visit to Milford, PA, an adorable historic town in Pike County.

This picturesque hideaway runs right off the Delaware River, features lush waterfalls and lots of greenery, much of it preserved forestry.   And right in the heart of the village at 401 Broad Street is Hotel Fauchère, an elegant, Italiante-style boutique hotel built in 1852.

Back in its heyday, hotel guests included U.S. presidents Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Mae West, Charlie Chaplin, Robert Frost, Babe Ruth and other notables.   After World War II, Milford’s appeal as a summer resort waned, and The Fauchère, the first floor of which had been converted into doctors’ offices, closed down in 1976.

Enter Richard Snyder and Sean Strub, who had the vision to painstakingly restore the hotel to its original splendor, and today, it’s a lux 16 room boutique hotel that just reeks of elegance and fine style.

Guestrooms are well-appointed and feature marble bathrooms with Pennsylvania blue stone, radiant heated bathroom floors and heated towel racks and bath sheets.  And here’s a really special touch:  a note was set on my bed during turn-down service, offering a light complimentary snack of milk and cookies!  It’s special attention to details like this that I particularly appreciate.

Under Chef Christopher Bates’ direction,  the hotel restaurant, The Delmonico Room,  boasts a traditional yet modern menu with natural ingredients obtained from local and regional producers and the owner’s own organic farm.  The downstairs bar and lounge, Bar Louis, complete with a cabaret and live performance area, is a Milford hot spot where everyone seems to know everyone else.    Another hot spot:  the Badea & Soul Day Spa run by the hotel — a perfect addition for girls weekends away or to pamper yourself and your groom-to-be before the wedding.

Note: this  hotel is a member of the renowned Relais & Chateaux, a collection of the world’s finest intimate hotels and gourmet restaurants encompassing only the top properties worldwide.
