New Restaurant Registry IN THE NEWS

Here’s an entirely new concept in wedding registries, and one that has nothing to do with sheets and towels:  New to New York, Foodie Registry (www.foodieregistry.com) is an innovative wedding registry for upscale restaurant gift certificates.

The premise behind Foodie Registry is that the modern wedding couple has much less of a need for houseware-type gifts than they did 50 years ago, but tradition persists, and people end up registering for things they don’t particularly want, need or have space for because.   Ben and Jennifer Reid, the site creators, found themselves in this position while planning their own wedding. So they eschewed the traditional registry for a make-shift “restaurant registry” instead, and that’s how Foodie Registry was born.

Unlike some honeymoon registries, Foodie Registry is free to use for both couples and purchasers.  Foodie Registry’s initial New York restaurant partners include 15 East, the legendary ‘21’ Club, Alloro, Anfora, dell’anima, the James Beard Foundation, Junoon, L’Artusi, L’Ecole, the restaurant at the French Culinary Institute, Lunetta, Merchants NY Café, Merchants River House, Miranda, One if By Land Two if by Sea, Pera Mediterranean Brasserie, Pescatore, Pound & Pence, PUBLIC, Southwest NY, Tagine Dining Gallery, Tamba,
Thalia, and Tocqueville.   Happy wedding and bon apetit!
