Ask Claudia: Barbecue Wedding in Nassau County

Mariel, Brooklyn

Q:  Hi Claudia.  I’m having trouble finding a venue to accommodate a BB style wedding in Nassau County.  We are not into the “white glove service”, etc. that most venues promise.  We would like a nice place where we can hold a big old school BBQ for 130-150 people, and dance the night away… any suggestions?  Thanks!

A:  Mariel, this is a tough question, but we can help!  We conducted some research for you and found just a few restaurants in Nassau County that offer good barbecue:  Call Swingbellys in Long Beach and ask if they can cater a private party on-site.  If so, you may have to pay an extra fee for the use of the space, if they have to close it down to handle your wedding.  Same with Smokin’ Al’s in Massapequa.  I know  Big Daddy’s in Massapequa does offer on-site private parties, so that might be your best bet.  Another option is to have your wedding in a park or a backyard and serve catered barbecue.  Our blog sponsors, Custom Catering can plan a fantastic menu with you, created specifically for your wedding.  Keep in mind that if you go this route, you will have to rent a tent or two plus tables, chairs and other necessities.   Come back and let us know what you decide on and congratulations!
