Long Island Wedding Rose Petals DETAILS & IDEAS

Rose petals, tossed gently from a basket by the flower girl, are a wedding ceremony tradition, as is an aisle runner strewn with rose petals for  just the right touch of romance.  But you can forgo buying a runner completely, and create a lush carpet of petals on your own, like the one below.

Other ways to use petals:  create a heart shape on the runner, or a monogram with your initials.  You can also place rose petals in elegant little bags to hand out to your guests, so they can toss them instead of rice as you exit the ceremony site or leave for your honeymoon.   Or, have a petal toss at the reception as you are introduced as husband and wife,  during your first dance together, or as you cut the cake.  This can add an element of fun and create a great photo op at your wedding.   To purchase rose petals, you can easily do an online Google search and find tons of resources.   But for those brides getting married on Long Island, try to support local businesses.   For example,  you can purchase petals at Tributes Floral Company (founded in 1998 by a Long Island florist).
