Ask Claudia: Rustic Wedding Venues on Long Island

Lindsay, Manorville

Q:  Hey there! I’m getting married October of 2011, and I’m looking for somewhere to hold the reception without breaking the bank since we are paying for our own wedding.
My places of interest at the moment are:

Painters in Brookhaven Hamlet
Raphael Vineyard
Martha Clara Vineryard
Jedidiah Hawkins B&B

Me and my fiance are looking for a place that falls into the rustic/worn/barn look category.  I live in Manorville,  on the East End, and anything within the proximity to my house would be awesome.  Thanks so much!

A:  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, Lindsay!  I think you have a nice list of potential venues put together already, and do take a look here, for similar Ask Claudia questions and articles.  I would also suggest you check out The Hydrangea Farm and Gardens, 1535 New Suffolk Rd., Cutchogue (631-734-4180).  I hear they do lovely weddings in a farm-like setting.   The Naugles Barn at the Hallockville Farm Museum and Folk Life Center, 6038 Sound Avenue in Riverhead  (631-298-5292) features open beams and beautiful wood floors.  Do take a look at it …
