Ask Claudia: Hair Salon vs. Home Styling

Stephanie, Northport

Q:  I love the idea of getting our hair and make up done for my wedding at my childhood home, but the pragmatist in me thinks that trying to get me,  a large bridal party (7 girls), plus my mom, and my fiance’s mom ready  in a home with just 2 bathrooms and limited spaces is a bit unrealistic.  Am I right?  Do you recommend any salons in the Northport/Huntington/East Northport area that are great and can accommodate us all for hair and make up?  Thank you!

A:  I think your instincts are right, Stephanie.   You won’t want to be crowded when you’re getting your wedding day hair and makeup done and neither will your bridal party.  So unless everyone can spread out around the house, you’re probably better off prepping right at a salon.  And I have great recommendations for you, all of which can accommodate everyone in your party.  You didn’t mention Commack, but I threw it in as an option.  Also,  be sure to call these way in advance to schedule your trials and book the day of.  And do let us know how it works out — which salon you selected and if you’re happy with them…
