Q:  My fiancee and I are so busy with our jobs and everything.  We’re thinking of hiring a wedding planner.  Do you think that’s a good idea?

A:  Wedding planners, as you probably know, are an added expense to your overall budget, but if you can afford to hire one, I say do it.  Planning a wedding is exhilarating but also exhausting and brides can use all the help they can get.  But before you hire a wedding planner, bu sure to meet with several.  In addition to her qualifications and experience, you have to be able to get along for many months.  So make sure you mesh.  Explain your vision, your plans, your worries, any special circumstances that should be taken into account and of course, your financial situation, to be sure she is on the same page as you and your fiance.  And if you need a few recommendations, come back.  I’ll be happy to give you names of a few excellent Long Island wedding  planners.
